ITINERARY
City Tour In Cusco Economic 5 Hours
Our transfer service will pick you up from your hotel to take you to the beginning of your tour. We offer two time slots: the morning session, which runs from approximately 8:30 AM to 2:00 PM, and the afternoon session, which takes place from around 1:00 PM to 6:30 PM.
The tour kicks off at the Cusco Cathedral, renowned for its intricate wood carvings, impressive altars, and beautiful paintings created by local artists of the Cusco School, which contain subtle elements of indigenous belief.
We will then take a brief stroll through the streets of the historic center towards Qoricancha, also known as the Temple of the Sun. According to historical accounts, entering this sacred site required fasting and going barefoot, as it was revered as an indigenous sanctuary dedicated to the deities of the Sun, Moon, Stars, Rainbow, Thunder, and Lightning. Here, you will admire the exceptional stonework developed by the Incas, characterized by intricate cuts that remain stable to this day despite seismic activity.
Following our visit to Qoricancha, we will board transportation to Sacsayhuaman, located 3 km from Cusco. The esplanade of Sacsayhuaman provides a panoramic view of the city. Constructed with massive limestone blocks weighing between 25 and 130 tons, this site features three terraces arranged in a zigzag pattern, serving as a gathering place for festivals such as WARACHIKUY and INTI RAYMI due to its vastness.
Next, we will visit Qenqo, meaning «labyrinth» in Quechua. Situated one kilometer from Sacsayhuaman, it showcases limestone rock formations sculpted over 500 meters, along with structures believed by historians to have been used for astronomical, religious, embalming, and mummification purposes.
We will also explore Puka Pukara, derived from the Quechua terms «Puka» (red) and «Pukara» (fortress). Known as the «red fortress,» this strategic site was used to control and monitor access to the Imperial City of Cusco. It served as a territorial boundary to define regions and regulate travel.
The tour will conclude with a visit to Tambomachay, a resting site located 9 km from Cusco. Referred to as the «Inca Baths» because of its water sources, it is also known as the «Waters of Eternal Youth» due to its continuously flowing waters. We will then transport you back to your hotel in Cusco, marking the end of the City Tour.
