You’ll then explore Ollantaytambo before taking the train to Aguas Calientes. The next day, with a professional guide, you’ll discover the archaeological treasures of Machu Picchu, surrounded by breathtaking natural views, ending with a relaxing night in Aguas Calientes.
ITINERARY
Cusco – Sacred Valley – Aguas Calientes
Our 2-day excursion to the Sacred Valley and Machu Picchu begins with a morning pickup from your hotel in Cusco around 7:30 a.m. The journey starts with a visit to Pisac and its archaeological site. At noon, we’ll have lunch in Urubamba before heading to Ollantaytambo, known as the «Best Tourist Town in the World,» where you’ll marvel at finely carved stone pieces used for astronomical purposes. After the tour, we’ll transfer to the train station for a 1 hour and 50 minute ride to Aguas Calientes, where you’ll spend the night.
Machu Picchu – Cusco
In the early morning, we will take you to the bus station for a 25-minute journey along a zigzagging road to reach the Archaeological Sanctuary of Machu Picchu. There, a guide will lead a 3-hour tour where you’ll learn about Inca culture and the intricate stone constructions, including temples, plazas, roads, and terraces, all showcasing remarkable engineering. Machu Picchu, with its agricultural and urban areas, is truly a wonder of the world. After the tour, you will return by bus to Aguas Calientes for lunch, then take the train to Ollantaytambo, where a driver will transfer you to your hotel in Cusco. Train schedules may vary depending on availability.
